OUR STORY
Sur+ is founded by Leon Aarts and Alex Vlassopulos based on their common love of food and advergeance of waste.
In the summer of 2023 they decided to start a food brand, reducing waste and creating amazingly delicious and nutrtious meals at the same time.
Leon is a chef, serial entrepreneur and most importantly a humanitarian who is the founder of 3 charities.In 2015 during the refugee crisis Leon built Calais Kitchens, a charity which within a few months supplied food to all the 9,000 people in the camps in Northern France. He founded ‘With Compassion’ at the start of the pandemic in London, cooking over 650,000 meals in one year out of surplus food for those in London living in food insecurity.
In 2021 Leon opened the Felix Kitchen producing more than 1 million meals per year out of surplus food. His purpose is: no-one goes to bed hungry and he is passionate about utilising surplus food and helping others.
Co-founder Alex Vlassopulos has a wealth of experience in media, start-ups and most recently working for Google for 8 years as Global Head of Sustainability for Android. Alex is also Co-Founder of Kitche, a home food waste prevention app. www.linkedin.com/in/alexvlassopulos/
Giving Back

Our social contribution to society will also involve, through working together with partners, events, pop-ups and supper clubs bringing people closer together whilst at the same time raising awareness through the power of sharing a meal. People living in food insecurity will be invited to attend for free.
London and the UK are currently in the midst of a hunger crisis and we can do something about it. All of Leon’s charity efforts have been based on sharing what we have with others. Now for the first time he has built his successful formula into a business ensuring delicious and nutritious meals for all. Our customers will know that not only will they get a fantastic meal themselves they will also support others who are living in food insecurity through our events and supper clubs.
